Now that the Twilight franchise is all wrapped up and buried, what’s a poor formerly human, now immortal and undead girl to do? Go to college, of course!
According to UK tabloid The Mirror, Kristen Stewart recently enrolled in the University of California, Los Angeles to complete a degree in English Literature. Now, this is the Mirror we’re talking about here, so it’s probably best to take it with a grain of salt. If, however, the tabloid is actually speaking the truth instead of just, y’know, making stuff up, then Kristen is considering life after film. “She never got to complete college and she wants to get a proper education,” the paper’s source revealed.
But don’t freak out just yet, UCLA Twihards; you probably won’t see Kristen on campus much. The Mirror’s source continued, “She is a voracious reader and cannot wait to get going on her correspondence course”—which means that, if the tabloid is to believed, she’ll be getting her schooling done via an online program. Kristen is no stranger to working remotely; although she went to school as a regular student through seventh grade, her blossoming career made it impossible to do so later on. She continued her education by correspondence while she was working, graduating high school (with honors!) in 2009.
It’s become far from unusual for people to earn their degrees through online programs; the flexibility afforded by them allows students to do things like maintain their full-time jobs, which Kristen would presumably be doing. Note, though, I’m actually not sure whether UCLA actually HAS an online program in either its undergraduate humanities division or in its school of continuing education (UCLA Extension’s website appears to be broken right now, alas), so if it doesn’t, then we’ve got our answer as to whether the Mirror simply started a rumor. Any UCLA students out there care to enlighten us?
In any event, in honor of Kristen’s potential decision to enroll at UCLA, here are 10 more celebs we bet you didn’t know pursued higher education. Let’s go back to school!
