The Golden Globes red carpet was scrumptious! There were so many gorgeous looks, and it’s so fun these days to be able to see behind-the-scenes looks via Instagram and all that social media jazz. Here are some of my stand-out style & beauty moments, and how to copy some of some of makeup, hair, and nail polish magic.
1. Best of the night. First of all, Lupita Nyong’o won the entire night with her Ralph Lauren dress in my absolute favorite color to wear. Unreal.
She was also was decked head to toe in Fred Leighton yellow gold diamond studs, vintage yellow gold and diamond cocktail rings, and a vintage yellow gold and diamond pinky ring with a solid rose gold clutch from Monica Rich Kosann. In case, you know, you want to go shopping.
A close second for me was Zoe Saldana’s controversial Prabal Gurung dress. (Seriously — this ended up on some worst-dresses lists? Insanity!) Absolutely love. Fun fact: Saldana’s hair stylist used one of my favorite products: L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Volume Hairspray. Awesome stuff.
2. A goddess gets her makeup done.
Makeup artist Jeanine Lobell and the incredible Cate Blanchett in her black lace Armani. Some of the highlights of the potions Jeanine used:
-Piles of Lancôme Hypnôse Waterproof Custom Volume Mascara (Jeanine piled on layers and layers to both the top and bottom lash line, combined with individual flares, to create dramatic lashes.)
–Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow in Intuition and Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Emervielle.
(By blending the pinky-beige and goldy-beige shades and dusting them from the lid to the lash line, in addition to adding a pop of Emervielle to the lid, Jeanine was able to create dimension without using any liners.)
–Nars Highlighting Blush in Satellite of Love
–SK-II Facial Treatment Mask (Jeanine prepped Cate’s skin with this while she was getting her nails done) (Mental note: buy this immediately.) (Follow up note to self: sh@& it’s $125!)
–Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in #502 Scarlatto and #509 Boudoir
4. Zooey Deschanel’s daisy nails.
You can copy this look using L’Oreal nail artist Tom Bachik’s technique — and I am going to try!
STEP 1: After prepping nails, Tom created an offset French manicure using a pastel yellow polish, L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail Versailles Romance in Crème Puffs. He applied the polish along the tip of the nail on an angle, swooping upward at two thirds of the way creating an off center point.
STEP 2: He applied L’Oréal Paris Magic Top Coat Collection in True Gold (discontinued) with a striper brush along the top of the French tip to soften the line between the tip and the bare natural nail
STEP 3: Apply one coat of L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail Top of the Line top coat ($5.99)
STEP 4: Once dry, Tom used different size gold studs to create the center of the daisies to give the nail a 35 effect; The daises were randomly placed, off center and sometimes overlapping. Similar studs here.
STEP 5: Using L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in I Will! ($5.99), he used a small detail brush to create the petals
STEP 6: He finished the look off by adding more of the gold glitter polish over the daisy centers, blending out onto the petals.
STEP 7: To set the entire look, apply one coat L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail Top of the Line top coat ($5.99)
5. Reese Witherspoon’s pre-show Instagram sneak peek of her incredibly hot dress.
6. Zac Posen’s shots of Lena Dunham in one of his creations. I love this look, love him and love her!
I mean, how gorgeous is Lena in this super cute pic of her and bf Jack?
