Beauty Road Test: Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipstick Is DEFINITELY My New Go-To Lip Color

Bettys, meet your new favorite lipstick and lip liner combo: Urban Decay's Revolution lipstick and 24/7 Glide-On lip pencils!

UD Revolution and 247

You guys. Urban Decay’s new lipstick. IT IS AMAZING.

That is all

Okay, I lied; that’s not all. We were lucky enough here at Betty HQ to have a bunch of Urban Decay’s new Revolution lipsticks ($22,—along with a few matching 24/7 Glide-On lip pencils ($19,—show up in our mailbox; even luckier, I got to be the Betty Editor to test them out.  And believe you me, they are everything I’d hoped for and more.

UD’s Revolution lipstick ($22, boasts a super luxe formula with insane color payoff: UD’s Pigment Infusion System gives these gorgeous lippies their super creamy texture, fabulous pigmentation, and extended wear, while a blend of jojoba oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter, and she butter add a boost of moisturizing power, The result? Soft, hydrated lips packing that fabulous burst of color that Urban Decay is known for.

The 24/7 Glide-On lip pencils ($19,, meanwhile, define and prime your pucker, making sure that whatever lip color you layer on top stays put all. Freakin’. Day. This relaunch of an old favorite includes a whopping 22 shades; there’s one to match each of the Revolution lipstick colors, as well as both a clear and a nude pick for those who want a little more flexibility out of their lip liners.

I’m usually too lazy to bother with lip liner (I know, I know—it’s a cardinal beauty sin); I prefer the dab-and-dash method of lipstick and gloss application, and as such, I haven’t actually owned a lip liner in years. Since I’ve now got three at my disposal, though, I made an effort to unearth ye olde lip liner skills: First, line ‘em; then, fill ‘em in with the liner for added staying power; and then—and ONLY then—apply your lipstick, blotting to soften the color and or building it up to give it more punch.

Here’s my take on three of the Revolution and 24/7 Glide-On shade combos:

UD Rush

Rush: This mauve beauty was probably my favorite of the bunch, largely because it’s a terrific everyday shade that will go with everything. It’s neutral enough to be office-appropriate while still giving your lips a fun, feminine touch.

UD Turn On

Turn On: Every girl needs a pink lippie in her beauty arsenal, and this one just became my go-to one. Talk about a perfect fall date color—who’s up for a little apple picking? How about a picnic in the park? Some kite flying? Love!

UD Venom

Venom: I’ve been seeing vibrant violet shades like the one on beauty mavens and fashionistas left and right this fall—and now I’ve got my very own version! A night out calls for a lip color like this; it’s right at home at a concert, in a club, or in other dimly lit areas where bold lips stand out.

Each of these colors glides on smoothly without feeling sticky or chalky, they last for a good four to seven hours, and—best of all—they don’t bleed. At all. I can’t TELL you how awesome it is not to have to worry about your lipstick doing a runner from the corners of your mouth, especially on days when you opt for a brighter shade than usual. And hey, in the event that mauve, pink, and violet aren’t your thing, there are 19 other colors to choose from. Everybody wins!

Urban Decay’s Revolution lipstick and 24/7 Glide-On pencils are both available at Sephora, ULTA, and select Macy’s stores nationwide, as well as online at,, and The perfect fall makeup bag additions? That would be a resounding yes!
