Watch out, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson—you might have some new competition in the arena. Sesame Street is at it again with one of their most hilarious pop culture parodies yet. Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to meet The Hungry Games: Catching Fur!
In order to win the Hungry Games, Cookieniss Evereat (played by the erstwhile Cookie Monster) and her pals Finnicky, Tick-Tock Lady, and Pita, must solve a series of pattern-based puzzles, eating the appropriate item at the end of each one. Sure, pattern recognition, strong female heroine, yadda, yadda, yadda—but really, I’m just watching it because it’s HILARIOUS. I don’t know about you, but I am ENDLESSLY amused by the image of Cookie Monster running around with a Katniss wig on while holding a piece of talking
Peeta pita bread.
Watch it here:
Sesame Street has long been a favorite of grownups as well as children for their pop culture parodies; said executive producer Carol-Lynn Parente to People, “We’ve used these spoofs to draw in the adults in the room because research shows that children learn best when co-viewing with an adult.” Hear, hear!
In the event that you have a small child (or just like to watch Sesame Street), the clip will be part of this Thursday’s episode—just in time for Catching Fire’s Friday release. May the cookies be ever in your flavor!
