Here’s a nice little bit of holiday cheer: Troubled starlet Amanda Bynes has been released from her treatment center and is headed home with her parents to continue her recovery.
Amanda and her family released a statement through the actress’ lawyer, Tamar Arminak, yesterday saying, “Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who’s contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda’s recovery. Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation and she’s feeling better every day.”
Amanda was placed under a 5150 hold in July after she allegedly started a small fire in someone’s driveway; the hold was extended, her parents were granted a conservatorship, and in September, she was transferred from the UCLA Medical Center to a specialized private treatment center outside Los Angeles. With regards to whether or not she’ll be charged for her crime, her lawyer requested a 1368 Penal Code in September to determine Amanda’s mental competency. A hearing is scheduled for January 14, 2014 for a progress report.
So what’s next, once the legal issues are dealt with? Arminak’s statement continued, “[Amanda is] now looking at various colleges with the intention of majoring in fashion design. She’s mentioned before she’s interested in creating a clothing line. Despite the fact that Amanda is no longer in a facility, her outpatient treatment is continuing. She’s very happy to reestablish the loving relationship with her family that she once shared.” Amanda’s mother, Lynn, was granted control over her daughter’s well-being and finances on August 9; she’ll maintain control indefinitely over them as the actress focuses on getting well.
You know what? I’m glad to hear all this. I’m really pulling for Amanda; this particular celebrity meltdown was clearly because she’s sick—not just spoiled or what have you—and I’m happy she’s getting the help she needs. Enjoy the holidays, Amanda. Get well soon!
