Within a matter of seconds, attendees of the Alice + Olivia fall 2013 presentation were whisked away from the rain-slicked streets of New York City and into a dream world where whimsical frocks, braided heads, and preppy detailing reigned.

Inside the High Line Stages, models with striking oxblood lips and quirky getups posed as champagne-toting crowds rushed to snap photos. And they had good reason to make such a fuss! Rarely does one find a Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week line that is reasonably practical yet deliciously chic.

Dubbed “fantasy street style” by Stacey Bendet herself, the collection showcased ‘90s plaid (with modern updates, of course), flirty pleated leather skirts, argyle print, toasty fur coats, and funky oversized flower patterns. We even spotted an adorable zebra-shaped cross body bag. Yum!

Perhaps the most stunning piece in the collection was a daring red and black strapless gown. The intricate floral detailing was breathtaking, as was the perfect rose headpiece.

The colors of the evening ranged from neutral black, white, and grey to standout metallic gold, sultry reds, mossy greens, and touches of orange. Skirt styles ranged from pleated schoolgirl-esque minis to sweeping maxis –with tutus and studded pencils thrown into the mix. We also caught a few pairs of sleek leather pants, along with thigh-high stockings and several pairs of over-the-knee boots.

One question remains: With pieces this amazing, how can we possibly trim down our Alice + Olivia wish lists?
