Get the MBFW Look: Mally Roncal’s Fierce Smoky Eye for Tracy Reese
Mally Roncal created a fierce smoky eye for Tracy Reese’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show. Here’s how to get it!
Are you as in love with Tracy Reese’s fall 2013 collection as we are? Because we can’t get enough of it! As seen at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week this week, the collection takes its inspiration from New York itself. The city’s juxtaposition of harshness and beauty led to sharp silhouettes, bold shades like cerise and scarlet set against neutral backgrounds, and soft velvet paired with shiny patent. The look is smart, strong, and glamorous—and as such, the beauty look makeup artist Mally Roncal designed to go with it is, too.
Who is the girl who wears this look? “She is the quintessential New York City girl,” Mally said. “She’s confident. She’s fierce. Whether she has been out all night with her girlfriends, or just working the night shift, she’s out feeling as fabulous as she did when she left the house. Her skin is healthy, glowing, and artfully undone. The eyes are strong… and heavily smoky.” Love!
Here’s how to get it:
1. First up: Glowing skin. Use Mally Beauty’s Perfect Prep poreless primer in Glow ($35, beauty.com) as a base to create a subtle glow. Then top skin with Mally’s Diamond Unpowder ($42, amazon.com) to keep it looking fresh and radiant all day long. Add a little extra glow by applying Mally’s Effortless Airbrush Highlighter ($45, beauty.com) on your cheekbones; then apply Mally’s Baby blush ($14, amazon.com) on the apples of your cheeks. Finish with Evercolor Poreless Face Defender ($40, beauty.com) to seal in makeup for all-day wear.
2. Next: The eyes have it. To create a bold smoky eye, start by applying the black shadow in the Soho Silver City Chick smoky eye kit (included in Mally’s Up All Night kit, $60, beauty.com) all over your lid; then use Mally’s Eye Defining System in Crisp Black ($25, beauty.com) to smudge the look out on the ends of your eyes. For a strong, defined eyebrow, fill in your brows with Mally Beauty’s 24/7 Brow Express pencil/powder ($30, beauty.com).
3. Lastly: Comehither lips. First, apply Mally Beauty’s nourishing lipstick in French Kiss ($25, amazon.com). Let it set; then dab off the excess. This will make it look like you slept in your lipstick. Sexy!
