Dreamworks’ newest animated flick, The Croods, had its premiere in New York on Sunday night, and yowza! Did the stars come out to play or what? Most of the celebs who hit the red carpet did so not in floor-length satin, but in shorter, more playful getups—including this black and white one from Emma Stone. Now don’t get me wrong; most of the time, I love me some Emma Stone (and some of her stylist, too). This time, however, I’m not so sure—because it looks like her back is being attacked by a GIANT MUTANT BOW. What do you think, Bettys? Love it or hate it?

Some details: Emma went for head-to-toe Lanvin, from her black and white dress right down to the tips of her nude pumps. A golden (and seasonally appropriate) shamrock necklace added a little bling, and a slightly messy updo, a smoky eye, and a pink nude lip finished off the look. Here it is from the front:

I actually quite like it from this angle. The two-tone dress looks both chic and comfortable, I love the pockets, and the whole ensemble is perfect for the premiere of what’s probably a laugh-out-loud funny animated film. But the back! My goodness, Emma! What IS this? Why the huge, enormous bow? Are you going for a modernized kimono effect? Or is that bow actually a parasitic alien that has latched itself onto your spine so it can begin its slow and stylish takeover of the Earth, one celebrity at a time? Do you need rescuing? Just signal us with your eyes and we’ll get right on it!

I’m torn. How about you, Bettys? Love it or hate it? In the event that you love it, you might be able to get a similar look with the wallet-friendly ensemble that we’ve put together below—minus the bow (some things just shouldn’t be replicated). Check it out:
