Emma Watson Is the Latest Star to Get Waxed (At Madame Tussauds, Of Course)
‘Harry Potter’ star Emma Watson is the most recent addition to London’s Madame Tussauds wax museum. Take a look at the figure here!
Ever dreamed of having the chance to meet Emma Watson? Well, now you can—or at least, you can make it look like you did!
Yesterday, the Harry Potter star became the most recent addition to the London branch of Madame Tussauds wax museum. Said Madame Tussauds spokesperson Nicole Fenner about the new figure, “Emma has been one of the most requested wax figurines for a while now, along with One Direction. People really want to see her as she is now. Since Harry Potter, her popularity has increased on an international scale. We have people from all over the world asking for her. Interest in her is only going to escalate.” Emma’s wax likeness is posed sitting on a sofa against a sparkly background; she (it?) wears a black Elie Saab dress with a cut-out back. Here’s a shot of Emma in real life wearing the same dress—you know, for science:
What went into making the figure? Well, for starters, it took four months to do. A research team provided sculptor Alex Carlisle with a mixture of red carpet shots, both front and back, and recent film stills; he was also briefed on what the figure would be wearing and how it should be posed. Apparently, they chose the Elie Saab dress because it captured Emma’s “playful and fun” nature.
“The biggest challenge is recreating her expression, that sparkle,” said Carlisle. “It was important to have her looking beautiful. She has a lovely feel to her, so we had to find the right references. She has to be the correct size and height for it to look authentic.”
Emma’s Harry Potter costar Daniel Radcliffe was added to Madame Tussauds in 2007. How long do you think it will be before Rupert Grint joins the two of them, rounding out the magical trio?
Oh, and just in case you’re as in love with the statue’s outfit as we are, here’s a lookalike ensemble for you to steal:
