Yes, of course we’ve heard of Manolo Blahnik shoes—but Manolo Blahnik ice cream? That’s new!
Okay, so technically it’s not ACTUALLY Manolo Blahnik ice cream; the place that makes it is, however, run by Blahnik’s CEO and VP, George Malkemus and Tony Yurgaitis. According to Refinery29, these two enterprising guys purchased a Litchfield, CT dairy by the name of Arethus Farm & Dairy back in 1999. At the time of the acquisition, the intention was for the dairy to produce high-quality yogurt, milk, cheese, and other dairy products for the local community. The only way to get a hold of these goodies was to go all the way to Litchfield and get them directly for the farm—and from what the locals have been saying, the ice cream is UNREAL. As well it should be; there’s apparently a sign above the milking barn that reads, “Every cow in this barn is a lady, please treat her as such.” Cows receiving treatment that special had better be producing some pretty astonishing milk.
But finally—finally!—Arethusa’s most delicious treat is making its way beyond the borders Connecticut. Starting this week, Arethusa Ice Cream will be sold at two Dean & Deluca locations in New York City: The one in Soho, and the one on Madison Avenue. And guess how they’re kicking off this fabulous gustatory delight? With free ice cream, of course! To celebrate the launch, the SoHo location of Dean & Deluca will be hosting a free tasting event on April 19 from 4 to 6pm.
The 19th? Why, that’s tomorrow! Be sure to stop on by if you’re in the area—free ice cream is never to be missed, and especially not when it’s this spectacular!
