I don’t know about you, Bettys, but I ADORE Anthropologie. I wish my apartment was full of everything in their house and home section, and I wish my wardrobe was full of their clothing. I’m usually on a budget that doesn’t allow me to shop there that often, but I’ve been lucky enough to find some real steals in their sale section (including the dress seen here)—and my goodness, I can only hope that eventually I’ll be able to get my hands on a piece or two from Peter Som’s new collection for the brand, because it’s positively swoon-worthy!
Som described the collection to Style.com as “a combination of all the things I love… [It] has that off-kilter, patchwork, kind of magpie sensibility. It’s about quirky elegance.” He elaborated to Stylelist that the line was inspired by “social eccentricities, women of style that had a little something quirky or a little strange about them.” He cites Edie Beale, AKA “Little Edie,” as one such woman, but don’t worry—this collection won’t be going all Grey Gardens on you anytime soon.
The result? A flirty, romantic, 11-piece collection full of colorful dresses and skirts, as well as the occasional jacket, top, and pair of trousers. One of my favorite pieces has Som’s fabulous Spring 2012 zebra head print, about which he says, “I’m of the Diana Vreeland school of thought. Zebra is a neutral.”
Favorite. Fashion quote. EVER.
The collection drops on May 17 (a mere three days away!) and will be available online and in stores; prices range from $128 to $368. Click through for a peek at some of our favorite pieces!
