Is it just me, or did anyone else kind of hope that when Miss Piggy hit the big time in the fashion world, she’d be working someone a little more… well… interesting than Tommy Hilfiger? Then again, this is a line of kid’s t-shirts we’re talkinga bout here, so maybe I can only be so picky about it.
Anyhoo, here’s the deal: Disney and Tommy Hilfiger teamed up to launch a line of childrenswear based off of everyone’s favorite wacky, off-beat creatures, The Muppets. So, if you’ve ever wanted your kids’ branded gear to carry twice the labeling, now you can.
“Moi adores working with Tommy on the Muppets collection,” Piggy told Vogue UK. “Not only is he talented, elegant, and gracious, but he does all the work. All moi has to do is tell him what I think about the designs and Tommy takes care of all of it! Isn’t that fabulous? Kermie also loves working with Tommy.” What are her favorite pieces of the collection? The ones featuring herself, of course! “I love the pieces with moi—they’re so stylish, so now, so moi,” the porcine fashionista continued. “I also love the designs featuring Kermie and moi—and especially the top that reads ‘Miss Piggy 4 Kermit.’ It never hurts to advertise your intentions, n’est-ce pas?
In an incredibly meta twist, each of the line’s t-shirts and sweatshirts features a Muppet clad in items from Hilfiger’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Kermit’s looking pretty fabulous in his red trousers and black blazer, for instance. Slick.
Unfortunately the line appears only to be available in the UK, so sorry, US parents—we’ll let you know if we hear anything otherwise, though. We’ve only got one question left: How long will it be before we get a Moopets knockoff line?
Your move, Dave Grohl.
