Remember waaaaaaaaay back in December 2011 when we discovered that Hanson was releasing their own beer—and that it was named after their annoyingly bouncy tune “MMMBop?” Well, brace yourselves, Bettys, because MMMHops has finally arrived!…
…Well, almost. Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson’s puntastic beer made its first public appearance at the after-party for The Hangover Part III’s LA premiere last Monday. The boys (and I use the term “boys” loosely, as they’re now 32, 30, and 27, respectively) lent the ‘90s pop hit for which they’re most well-known to the film, so naturally they earned an invitation to its premiere. A film premiere is as good a time as any to try a new and somewhat exciting form of booze, so they brought along the very first batch of MMMHops with them. Taylor posted the pic seen above to his Instagram account documenting the moment. He wrote, “Enjoying the first run of @mmmhopsbeer with the one and only @edhelms, at @thehangover after party.” Sounds epic!
According to Beer Pulse, the band said on the red carpet, “You can now get a hangover with Hanson” before breaking into an a cappella version of a new song they’re currently working on. Although they also said that the beer would be available this month, Mustang Brewing, which is actually making it, stated, “The product that was sent to the premiere was a sample batch and for promotional purposes only. The final recipe is yet to be determined. In fact, Hanson was in our brewery this week working with us on a pilot brew. They’re great guys and serious craft beer fans. We look forward to working with them.”
In the meantime, MMMHops’ website is up and running, as are its Twitter and Facebook pages. As far as we know, MMMHops is going to be an IPA; I’m not terribly fond of extremely hoppy beers, but it’ll probably be great for summertime. For the curious, here’s a closer look at the brew’s label:
Tell us: Would you drink MMMHops beer? How about drinking it while listening to “MMMBop?” Inquiring minds want to know!
