Calling all LA readers and shoppers! Rebecca Taylor Boutique on Robertson Boulevard is teaming up with Affordable Living for the Aging (ALA) for a night of shopping, champagne, and cupcakes with proceeds benefiting a great cause on Thursday, May 30th—that’s today!—from 6:30-8:30 PM.
By 2016, 3.6 million seniors will be living in poverty and surviving on social security alone. Two out of three seniors depend on Social Security for most of their income, and one-third of seniors rely on it for at least 90% of their income. The average benefit is about $13,000 a year—less than full-time, minimum-wage work.
ALA works to create a strong nationwide network of shared housing programs for seniors and serve as a comprehensive online resource for seniors and their families to help reach a rapidly growing, and aging, population in need.
How can you help our seniors? Shop till you drop! A percentage of the proceeds from purchases made on Thursday will be donated to benefit ALA programs. And here’s a major bonus: With the purchase of any gala dress, you can save 50% off of the price of tickets for ALA’s upcoming Timeless Janet L. Witkin Gala and Silent Auction being held on June 6th at the Beverly Hills Wilshire.
Kick off the summer season with a night of fab fashion, delish cupcakes, champagne, and amazing people (including the wonderful Hillary Gadsby, blogger at Stilettogal.com) all for a great cause! Did we mention there will be champagne? (We did, didn’t we?) Cheers!
