Eagerly awaiting your invitation to the next Met Ball? Having your own Met Ball? Really hate the Met Ball, but can’t get over the wacky red carpet looks from this year’s event? Then we’ve got news for you: Topshop, which collaborated with American Vogue to dress a number of stars at the PUNK: Chaos to Couture celebration, will be making their red carpet designs available for purchase this September. Of course, for us everyday people, I’m not totally sure when would be an appropriate time to wear them, but whatever.
The British retailer dressed stars for the event: Jourdan Dunn, Ashley Madekwe, Jaime King, Julianne Hough, and Nicole Richie. Jourdan wore a beaded minidress with a mesh overlay; Ashley went for a beaded, long-sleeved column; Jaime rocked a black silk tuxedo; Julianne sported a whole lot of tulle; and Nicole took her fashion inspiration from the Bride of Frankenstein (well, not really, but that’s what it looks like to me). Each look was created in Topshop’s design studio and will be sold as part of the brand’s Limited Edition line in their London flagship store, the New York and LA stores, and online at topshop.com.
They won’t be cheap, of course; we’re looking at prices of £300 to £500 or $630 and $1,050. But hey, as Fashionista pointed out, given that your other option for procuring your very own Met Ball ensemble is to drop up to $35,000 on Moda Operandi… well, let’s just say that it’s all relative.
Tell us: Would you wear one of Topshop’s Met Ball looks? If so, where, when, and to what would you wear it?
