Skinny Cow WoCave lede

This post is brought to you by Skinny Cow. Yum!

We’ve all heard of the hallowed “Man Cave,” right? That sacred place into which dudes disappear with their fellow dudes to watch football and play Call of Duty (among other things)? Have you ever wished you had your very own lady version of a Man Cave? Then step right up and into our WoCavé!

This summer, Skinny Cow—makersof all those guilt-free sweets and frozen treats we love so much—wants to help women create a place to call their own: The WoCavé (it’s pronounced, wo-cah-vay, by the way—we’re classy like that), where we can kick up our heels, unwrap an ice cream sandwich or two, and relax with our BFFs. Oh, and it’s DEFINITELY a place where eating ice cream and chocolate before noon is allowed. Because why the heck not?

To get you started, head on over to Skinny Cow’s WoCavé home on the web. There, you can have a laugh with a hilarious short film or two, check out WoCavés designed by women all over the world, and even enter for the chance to win a $10,000 WoCavé. Love!

WoCave prizingWe’ve also got a giveaway of our own for you right here on BettyConfidential, too! To get you started on building your very own WoCavé, we’ve got a Skinny Cow ottowoman (who needs an ottoman when you’ve got an ottowoman?) for you to kick your feet up on, a photo board for you to cover with your favorite pics and pieces of inspiration, and a candy bowl for you to reach into when you’ve got a craving for something sweet. The nitty gritty of how the whole thing works can be found here, but the short version is this: To enter for the chance to win, comment on THIS POST (don’t forget to leave us your email address! We promise we’ll keep it secret) and tell us: What three items are absolute must-haves for your own WoCavé? Be sure to check out the RULES before entering!

Want to make your own WoCavé? Read on! We sat down with Melissa Michaels, the mastermind behind one of our favorite interior design blogs, The Inspired Room, to chat about how to get started creating your own WoCavé, what she’s got in hers, and more. Here’s the scoop!

BettyConfidential: First things first: What exactly IS a WoCavé?

Melissa Michaels: A WoCavé is a place for women to kick off their heels and indulge in some girl time. Every woman deserves a place to get away from the hectic pace of life, right? We need a sanctuary, a comfortable place to hang out with friends, eat chocolate, and escape from the world!

BC: When dreaming up your own WoCavé, where’s a good place to start for inspiration?

MM: I love dreaming about the perfect room. I could spend hours getting lost in Pinterest, decorating magazines and of course, blogs. Sometimes I find my best inspiration, though, in real life. I’ll spy a funky lamp or an awesome fabric while I am out shopping and it might inspire a whole new space!

I must be ahead of my time. I have a wo-cave/garage affectionately called the Beer Shed by the girls (aka mommies) who regularly visit. The must-haves that we already have are:

    - a 55" television with dvd player/cd/tuner, and wii console, hooked up to speakers all around
    - a full size refrigerator w freezer stocked with beer, wine and cocktail mixes, as well as veggies & crackers for hummus, ahi dip and a variety of cheeses
    - an attached yard/play area to send the chidren that allows the Beer Shed to be off limits when necessary.

We have had girls night in for 15-30, where we had hostess parties and/or themed potlucks (Mexican, Italian, etc) and movies (Bridesmaids, Magic Mike, etc). I keep folding chairs and picnic/folding tables available, but there are always comfy desk chairs we can relax in as we catch up or watch our latest favorite movie (aka eye candy – Fast & Furious series, Immortals and we will be awaiting the soon to be release Man of Steel!). No tear-jerkers allowed (I made that mistake once with The Descendents since we are in Hawaii – big mistake)…just fun stuff.

    We love our Beer Shed!
