Wedding season gallops apace, and of course it wouldn’t be complete without at least one totally over-the-top reality TV celebration. Good thing we’ve got the Real Housewives on hand to make sure we meet our quota, no?
The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Barney tied the knot with her third husband, Eddie Judge, this past Saturday (possibly while Kim Kardashian was giving birth to her as-yet-unnamed daughter)—and naturally, her gown was really somethin’ else. According to People, the custom Mark Zunino creation featured criss-crossed flounce panels in alternating blush and ivory shades, as well as hand-beading with platinum metallic thread embroidery. Wowzers—talk about a labor of love!
The designer himself told People, “Tamra wanted it to be very dramatic, but fluid and sort of organic in design. Originally she thought she would want white, but when she tried [the blush shade] on, she got the reaction of all her friends and that was that.” But was that REALLY that once she picked out the color? Not so much. “We originally had the flounce dropped more towards her knees,” revealed Mark. “The week before, she said, ‘I want it raised,’ so we took it apart and raised it. And she was losing weight, so we kept taking it in more and more! She was really hands on, and very passionate [about the design.” That’s… certainly one way to put it. It sounds like she was a little bit of a bridezilla to us, but hey, you don’t get on Real Housewives by being agreeable.
Perhaps not surprisingly, the flouncy gown isn’t the only dress Tamra wore on the big day; she had not one, but two more custom Zunino pieces for the reception. We haven’t gotten more than a sneak peek of these ones yet, although one of them is apparently a sexy, hand-beaded, hand-embroidered French Chantilly lace gown with a plunging neckline, while the other is a short, crystal-encrusted dress with feathers. Tamra is going the Kardashian route and airing her wedding on national television (WHAT HATH YOU WROUGHT, KIM?), so no doubt we’ll get a closer look at the second two dresses when the three-part series Tamra’s OC Wedding hits Bravo on September 2.
Tell us: What do you think of Tamra’s wedding gown (and the somewhat hilarious picture of it we dug up)?
