2013 is going to be a big year for the Backstreet Boys! First, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, and A.J. McLean celebrated the group’s 20th anniversary; then they earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; their new album, In a World Like This, is set to drop this summer; and hey, look! They’ve just released the first single from it! Who’s up for some Thursday morning nostalgia?
The “lyric video” for the song, also titled “In a World Like This,” updates the ol’ follow-the-bouncing-ball routine by tracking the BSB’s timeline instead. The trip down memory lane walks us through all of the group’s landmark moments, from the highest highs (all those awards and accolades!) to the lowest lows (Kevin’s decision to leave the band in 2006). Take a listen here:
Kind of catchy, no? Word on the street is that the new album is awfully—and perhaps somewhat unexpectedly—good. Who knew that they’d still have it in them after all this time? For the curious, the Boys aren’t exactly boys anymore; the youngest of them (Nick) is 33, and the oldest (Kevin) is 41.
In a World Like This drops on July 30. If you want to put the new tune on loop, but seeing the lyrics flash across the screen every time bugs you, you can listen to the audio-only version here.
Tell us: What do you think of the BSB’s new single?
