Looks like Aaron Paul’s wedding last week kicked off celebrity wedding season, because we’ve got another one right on its heels: Congrats to American Idol alums and newlyweds Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young!
According to People, Ace and Diana tied the knot this past Saturday at LA’s Luxe Sunset Boulevard hotel. The couple met in 2010 when they both starred in the Broadway revival of Hair; Ace popped the question on-air during the May 23, 2012 Idol season finale. Luckily, she said yes (because we all know how that COULD have gone…).
Picking out a dress can be difficult, but Diana certainly didn’t have any trouble finding hers—she wore the very first gown she tried on, a form-fitting Sareh Nouri number with pearls and rhinestones. She accessorized with a beaded belt, a custom veil—and blue cowboy boots. Said Renée Strauss, who organized the wedding, “She knew immediately that it was the perfect dress for her.” About Diana’s choice in footwear, Renée added, “If you didn’t know better, you’d think the dress and boots were made for each other. Believe it or not, the boots totally worked!”
Wedding guests included Ace and Diana’s fellow Idol finalists Elliot Yamin, Michael Johnes, and Kevin Covais, along with a number of Diana’s costars from The Young and the Restless. Instead of your standard string quartet, Diana walked down the aisle to a harpist playing the Wedding March; they exchanged vows they wrote themselves, and then walked back up the aisle as newlyweds to the tune of Led Zeppelin’s “All My Love.”
At the reception, the menu included a choice of filet mignon, chicken, salmon, or pumpkin ravioli. They also had two wedding cakes: One a plain ol’ vanilla cake, and the other a banana chocolate chip confection. Yum!
In a super personal touch, the couple recorded an original song called “I Do” for their first dance. “This was the best way to start the chapter of my life as Mrs. Young,” Diana said. “I’m over the moon with joy and happiness about our wonderful wedding. I can’t wait to spend my life with my husband!” For Ace’s part, he says their wedding “was the best day of my life.” He continued, “Diana and I are in it forever. She’s my best friend.”
Congratulations, you two crazy kids!
