As an avid Law and Order: SVU and Criminal Minds fan, I was pleasantly surprised by TNT’s strong lineup of crime dramas. As part of my participation in an Armchair Detective program with TNT, I had the chance to catch the season premiere episodes of Major Crimes, King & Maxwell, Rizzoli & Isles, and Perception. Of course, I watched all four in a row, eating up the juicy plotlines and witty banter.
Helmed by the smart and stylish Captain Sharon Raydor, Major Crimes started with a bang (literally) and ended with hard-earned justice. When standing up for once-homeless teenager Rusty Beck, Capt. Raydor certainly stood out as both a strong leader and team player. Major Crimes comes back for its second season with all new episodes on TNT starting on June 10th at 9/8c.
Meanwhile, King & Maxwell was a crime drama with a whole lot of charm. The dynamics between former Secret Service agents (and current private investigators) Sean King and Michelle Maxwell didn’t feel forced, which made watching especially pleasurable. King’s charisma and Maxwell’s kickass moves added a dose of charm to the murder-mystery pilot episode. The guy in the beaver suit also helped, but you’ll have to tune in on Monday, June 10th at 10/9c for details on that.
Another daring duo could be found in Rizzoli & Isles. Detective Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles team up once again to bring the bad guys to justice. Rizzoli’s rule-bending combined with Dr. Isles smarts solves a mystery involving a murdered actor and a terrifying garage collapse. Though I missed out on the show’s first three seasons, I was able to follow the subplots with relative ease. Dr. Isles’ heated exchange with birth mother Dr. Hope Martin drew me into the storyline seamlessly. Rizzoli & Isles returns to TNT on Tuesday, June 25th at 9/8c.
Last on my list was Perception, which follows paranoid schizophrenic Dr. Daniel Pierce as he connects the dots and causes a bit of trouble along the way. There were a number of plot twists and turns in that one hour-long episode, so I can only imagine what the rest of the season will bring! You can check it out for yourself on Tuesday, June 25th at 10/9c.
Which TNT crime dramas are you simply dying to see (pun intended)?
