Melanie was born in Paris, the daughter of Annick, a ballet dancer, and Pierre Laurent, the voiceover actor who dubs the character of Ned Flanders in the French version of The Simpsons. Though she’s most well-known for her 2009 portrayal of the vengeful Shosanna Dreyfus in Quentine Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, she’d actually been working for a good decade before that—and not just as an actress. She wrote and directed the short film De moins en moins, which was nominated for Best Short Film at the 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival. Catch her in cinemas now in the magician caper flick Now You See Me.
