Sad news today, Bettys: After a three-year battle with ovarian cancer, Pierce Brosnan’s daughter, Charlotte, passed away last Friday in London. She was 41 years old.
Pierce released a statement to People, saying, “On June 28 at 2pm, my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life. Having succumbed to ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas, and brothers Christopher and Sean.” The actor continued, “Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences.”
Charlotte’s mother, Cassandra Harris, also battled ovarian cancer and sadly lost; she and Pierce married in 1980, and remained together until her death in 1991. Charlotte and her brother Christopher were both children from Cassandra’s previous marriage; Pierce adopted them both, and they later took his last name after they lost their biological father in 1986. “We just clicked as a family,” Pierce said of his adoptive children earlier this year. “Charlotte and Chris have been just amazing in my life.”
Charlotte is survived by her husband and their two children, Isabella (14), and Lucas (8). Our hearts are with her family.
