Ladies and gentlemen, here’s your first look at the Royal Baby!
Proud new parents William and Kate, AKA the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, left the hospital today after the much-lauded arrival of their wee little one yesterday—and they clearly couldn’t be happier. Kate held the as-yet-unnamed Prince of Cambridge in her arms swaddled in a delicate white blanket; about their son’s name, William told reporters, “We are still working on a name, so we will have that as soon as we can.” So stay tuned—we’ll keep our ear to the ground for you, Bettys!
In a delightful and touching piece of symmetry, Kate wore polka dots—much like Princess Diana did when she left the same hospital with Baby Wills in June of 1982. Of course, Kate’s light blue pick was a designer piece by Jenny Packham, but hey, who’s countin’.
Naturally, William and Kate aren’t the only Royals celebrating; Prince Charles released a statement yesterday, saying, “Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.” HRH continued, “Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.” Maybe that future is now! What do you think Baby Cambridge will call his grandfather? Something tells us “grampy” might be a little too informal, but who knows.
Just for good measure, here’s one more pic:
Aren’t they just the cutest family ever? All together now: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
