Prince Andrew has become the first member of the British Royal Family to open his very own Twitter account. Surprised? Not surprised? Wondering if Harry is next? Get the dish here!

The first member of the Royal Family has finally created a personal Twitter account—and surprisingly, it’s not Prince Harry!

According to the BBC, Prince Andrew, Duke of York has become the first Royal Family member to open an official Twitter account. Don’t know Andrew by name? He’s Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s third child after Charles, Prince of Wales and Anne, Princess Royal; he’s currently fourth in line for the throne. He’s also Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie’s dad.

Naturally, Andrew’s Twitter handle is @TheDukeOfYork. So far, he’s got over 14,000 followers; he himself is following about 50 other Twitter accounts, including the official @BritishMonarchy and @ClarenceHouse ones. How will we know which Tweets came specifically from Andrew, as opposed to his staff? The Prince will be signing his personal Tweets with the signature “-AY”. Logic therefore dictates that any unsigned Tweets will have originated with his staff. So, this:

Of course, Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has been on Twitter for quite some time; technically speaking, she’s still a member of the Royal Family by marriage in spite of their divorce, so I suppose SHE might actually be regarded as the first Royal Family member to hit up Twitter. She lost the use of the style “Her Royal Highness” after the divorce went through, though, and if she remarries, she’ll no longer be the Duchess of York either, so do with that what you will.

I still think the fake Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth accounts are funnier, but hey, that’s what parodies are for.

Tell us: Which member of the Royal Family would you like to see join Twitter next?
