Yesterday we got a peek at the Monique Lhullier creation Avril Lavigne wore for her Goth, French castle wedding to Chad Kroeger—and now we’ve got a few full-length shots so you can check it out from a couple of different angles. Up top, we’ve got Avril and Chad; here, we’ve got her walking down the aisle with her dad:
And here she is in the pages of HELLO! Magazine:
From what we can see here, Avril went for a sweetheart neckline and a whoooooole lotta tulle in an A-line cut. The veil (also black) in the HELLO! Mag pic looks to be cathedral length; and of course Avril’s bouquet was made of black roses. You can’t have a Goth wedding without a Goth bouquet.
So: What do you think? The black wedding dress trend seems to be picking up steam amongst celebrity brides lately; Shenae Grimes also walked down the aisle in a dark, dramatic dress back in May. Shenae’s pick was a Vera Wang—Vera’s Fall 2012 bridal collection being, of course, the line we can credit with the recent rise of the black bridal gown. Now Monique Lhullier is hopping on the trend, and we’re sure many more designers will be following along shortly.
Me? I kind of dig the trend. I probably wouldn’t wear a black wedding dress myself, but I’m all for switching things up and rethinking old traditions. Ultimately, whatever makes the bride feel like she’s ready to walk down the aisle is exactly what she should be wearing, whether it’s white, or black, or red, or any other color of the rainbow. Or, y’know, ALL the colors of the rainbow. Because why the heck not?
Tell us: Black wedding gowns: Yea or nay?
