Britney Spears’ Next Gig: Meatball Shop Owner?

Rumor has it that Brit Brit might be getting ready to open up shop in Las Vegas -- a meatball shop, to be precise!

Could it be? Is Britney Spears really getting ready to open a meatball shop in Las Vegas?

We already know that Brit Brit is in negotiations with Planet Hollywood about potentially opening up a regular show in Sin City; but rumor has it that the Princess of Pop might also be partnering up with an Italian restaurant in the area for a new location south of the Vegas Strip.

Meatball Spot is a moderately-priced eatery that specializes in—you guessed it—meatballs. Currently located in southeast Las Vegas, the restaurant has confirmed to People that they are in fact “in negotiations with a major entertainer about a potential partnership”—although they didn’t mention anyone by name. Why does Britney seem like a likely choice? She’s apparently already got a long-standing relationship with the owner of the restaurant; additionally, the new Meatball Spot location is planned to open right next to Planet Hollywood’s PH Live venue—which, incidentally, is where Britney would be performing. Hmmm. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Whether or not Britney would actually have a hand in the management of the restaurant is another story. I suspect the partnership might be something similar to what Lost star Daniel Dae Kim set up with build-your-own-burger joint The Counter while he was in Hawaii—that is, he invested in the business, but didn’t actually run it. He later sold his stake in the restaurant, but hey. Such is the nature of business.

Anyhoo, we’ll have to wait and see about whether the rumors are true—and whether it means we’ll be getting some Britney-specific menu choices. “Criminal” meatballs, anyone?
