Sure, she rocks the camera like a boss—but what keeps Extra correspondent Maria Menounos so radiant and gorgeous? We’ve got the answers right here! The camera-candid beauty recently sat down with us to spill all the deets on her best fitness and beauty secrets. From the products she can’t live without to tips and tricks on how to take some seriously amazing photos, read on for the full scoop!
BettyConfidential: You’re literally in front of the camera all the time. How do you keep your skin constantly red carpet ready?
Maria Menounos: My biggest tip is to take off your makeup every night. When you clean your face, make sure you never dry it with the same towel. I have a basket of fresh towels that I use every night—it’s really cheap, and it’s one and you’re done. When I did this, I noticed a big change. I also use witch hazel and stick it on breakouts to disinfect them. I love using products by Dermalogica, Elizabeth Arden and a Clarisonic brush.
BC: Are there any must-have products that you have in your makeup bag at all times?
MM: When I’m traveling, Dermalogica gets the job done. I’m also a fan of Prevage products, too.
BC: How do you keep your smile so gorgeous and radiant?
MM: I brush my teeth twice a day with my Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush, which has really changed my life more than anything. I’m really anal about my teeth and am probably the only human who enjoys dentist visits, but this brush is so powerful—it’s as strong as the ones used in dental offices.
BC: Are there any beauty foods that you swear by?
MM: You definitely are what you eat. When I was young, my parents ate organic foods and had their own garden where they would get produce from. Eating organic provided a foundation for me to eat healthy, as my parents at their age look twenty years younger [than they actually are]. I love eating blueberries, veggies, and fresh salads, which are all great foods for the skin.
BC: When you’re constantly on the go (you are a very busy lady!) what kind of exercise routine do you turn to?
MM: I am very active, but if I know I can’t get to the gym, I do things to keep the blood flowing. Some things I do to get moving are doing yoga poses, lunges in the shower, walking my dog, or even walking up and down the stairs at The Grove. I have a ton of workouts in my book The EveryGirl’s Guide to Life, too.
BC: Can you give us some tips on how to take awesome photographs? You’re so darn photogenic!
MM: Always take photos with friends. It may be tempting, but don’t lean in—it makes you look larger than you really are. When you actually take the picture, stand up as straight as you can and pick your best angle. If you can, also put your arm around someone, as it’s a really warm way to take a picture.
BC: What’s your signature beauty look?
MM: I really like to keep it simple. Most days I’ll grab a tinted moisturizer, bronzer, shimmer powder, and cream blush (peach is my go-to color). Cream blush may be difficult for some, but the trick is actually to brush the product on. Dab some on your cheeks, and if you find that you overdo it, tissue-dab your cheeks to blend.
