After rumors started swirling last week that NSYNC would be reuniting for a performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, we finally found out last night whether they were true… And (perhaps unsurprisingly), they were! Between this, the Spice Girls at the Olympics last summer, and the Backstreet Boys releasing a new album, it’s certainly been a good year for ‘90s nostalgia, hasn’t it?
The reunion came as part of Justin Timberlake’s 15-minute set. He started out with a medley of his biggest solo hits, ranging from “SexyBack” to “Cry Me a River”—before being joined onstage by his former bandmates Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick for the NSYNC numbers “Girlfriend” and (of course) “Bye Bye Bye.”
The crowd, naturally, went WILD.
I’ve never been a huge fan of JT’s music, and I don’t actually find him that attractive: but I will say this: He’s one heck of a performer, and that, my friends, is HOT. Check out the full performance here; NSYNC takes the stage at about the 9:40 mark.
They sound good, no? I often wonder whether it’s tough for the other guys knowing that Justin made it so big, while they’ve been left languishing in Has-Been Hell; but hey, at least they’re still able to jam together, so good for them. Any chance to perform is better than no chance to perform, right?
Tell us: If you could have any band reunite for a one-off performance, who would it be and what would they play?
