What’s better than one year of the Golden Globes being hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler? TWO years of the Golden Globes being hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, of course. And if we’re really, REALLY lucky, it might actually happen!
According to Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva, Amy and Tina have both been approached about returning as the Golden Globes’ erstwhile hosts in 2014. While I generally think award shows really need to break this terribly habit of recycling the same hosts over and over again, this little tidbit fills my heart with joy. More of these can’t POSSIBLY be a bad thing:
Alas, we must not forget that it’s a distinct possibility that Amy and Tina could turn it down. They’re ridonculously busy ladies, after all. Tina, who is currently under a new four-year deal at Universal TV, has already sold two comedy projects since 30 Rock ended and is expected to churn out a couple more soon; Amy, meanwhile, has her hands full with Parks and Rec. Oh, and both of them still do the whole movie star thing, too. When they hosted last year, it was as a one-time, no-obligation-to-come-back deal, probably to avoid getting locked in to devoting the entirety of awards season to the Globes each year for the next several decades.
As Andreeva notes, though, the Golden Globes aren’t nearly as labor intensive as, say, the Oscars are. The Oscars can involve three months of prep work for its host, whereas the Golden Globes tend to skate by on a mere few weeks of commitment—buoyed up, of course, by the free-flowing river of booze the show floated by on during all those years it didn’t have a host at all.
Our fingers are crossed—and we’re dusting off our Golden Globes drinking game while we’re at it. Say yes, Tina and Amy! Please, PLEASE say yes!
