We’ve already gone over what you need to know about Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock’s newly-minted fiancé, Chris Siegfried—so of COURSE we’ve got to follow it up with what you need to know about her engagement ring, right? Here, take a closer look:
Yowza! That’s some ring, isn’t it? Yet another offering from celeb jewelry Neil Lane, who designs all of the engagement rings for The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, what we’re looking at here is a sparkler that measures in at over 3.5 carats. More than 200 small diamonds surround the cushion-cut center stone, and the whole thing is set in platinum and rose gold—a little detail that offers a change of pace from the rings Neil has dreamed up for the show in the past.
How did Chris choose it? Easy: Symbolism. Neil revealed to People, “Chris and I spent a long time talking and he was drawn to the symbolism of the platinum and rose gold bands entwined. The ring entwines the bands into one, just as Des and Chris are two people wrapped into one couple and forever entwined. It’s beautiful.” It’s also maybe a little sappy, but hey, that’s what engagement stories are for.
When Neil set out to design the options, he took his inspiration from Desiree’s fondness of vintage-style pieces. “I knew Des wanted a vintage style,” he said, “but also something romantic, feminine, and sophisticated. Diamonds ring the platinum and rose gold, which is wonderfully romantic and give it Old World charm. The ring has a softness to it and a halo of diamonds on top, so it’s always sparkling.”
It’ll probably still be a little while before Chris and Desiree set a date for the wedding (next summer, perhaps?), but in the meantime, we’re already gearing up for the next season of The Bachelor. Who’s in the hot seat this time? Juan Pablo Galavis, who was eliminated during episode 6 of Desiree’s Bachelorette season.
Tell us: What do you think of Desiree’s sparkler?
