Wondering what the audition entailed for 50 Shades of Grey? Find out from someone who almost tried out for the part! caught up with actress Chloe Bridges at Alice + Olivia’s New York Fashion Week presentation this past Monday night. Though she’s probably best known as The Carrie Diaries’ resident mean girl, Donna LaDonna, Chloe was also up for an unspecified role in 50 Shades of Grey. Given what’s about to follow, we’re betting it was Anastasia Steele herself (and at 21, Chloe is just the right age for the character)—

“There were three pages of sides that I was going to audition with. I read them and then was like, I really can’t do this,” she told Cosmo. “If you read these three pages of sides, you would die. I still like to show them to my friends for fun.”

What made the sides so cringeworthy? “The scene was, like, the girl telling her friends about some sexcapades she had,” Chloe explained. “But it goes into extreme detail and uses the word ‘sperm’ a couple times. I was like, I don’t know guys, I have to go home to my grandparents’ house in a few months at Christmas, I don’t know if I can do this.”

Because “sperm” is the SEXIEST WORD EVER, right? It’s almost up there with “argh.” Seriously.

Although Chloe is glad that she won’t be doing the film, she has great respect for those who are (hey there, Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson!). “It was intense,” she said, “so mad props to the people who are going to do it. You had to be able to take it seriously and not laugh and turn bright red.”

Tell us: Would you have been able to pull off this audition with a straight face?
