Sarah Hyland’s Bare Triangles:
Red Carpet Manicure artist Christina Aviles noted that Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland wanted to go with a bold, burgundy nail to accent her emerald gown (fun fact: Sarah co-designed the gown herself with Carolina Herrera!). So, Christina created a “negative space” manicure around the moons of Sarah’s nails, leaving a crisp, bare triangle surrounded by a gorgeous, rich red.
1. As always, start with a clear base coat. This is especially important for this look because of whole the negative space idea.
2. To create the triangles on each nail: Starting at the outer edges of the nail’s moon, carefully paint lines travelling diagonally up to the nail’s upper outer corner using Red Carpet Manicure gel nail polish in Haute Couture ($9.99, redcarpetmanicure.com). The two lines should meet in the middle of your nail, leaving a triangle below them.
3. Continuing to work in diagonal lines, fill in each of the areas of the nail above the triangles.
4. Finish with a clear top coat. Voila!
