The Tipping List
5 Reasons to Stick to Your Diet
Bathing suit season is practically here!
-Dawn Del Russo, Betty’s Fashionista411
Here’s some incentive to actually stick to your New Year’s diet and exercise resolutions – the hottest swimsuit trends for 2009 are already in stores for the start of resort season. Even if your current idea of a mid-winter break is doing laps three times a week at the neighborhood Y, a new suit will get you going and make you feel guilty enough to get back on track if you slip.
Contoured suits pared to bare at the middle like this one, emphasize a trim waist but leave enough coverage at bust, hips and rear. For more coverage opt for a black tank with a keyhole back.
Metallics look best with dark tawny skin tones or a self-tan. A classic strapless tankini shows off shoulders and collarbones (who doesn’t have a great set of those?!) but strategically hides a tummy – and adds just enough glitz.
A SEXY BIKINI
This is your workout reward if you’ve gotten a head start on those abs. Save this suit for social mingling, strolls at the shoreline or quick dips instead of serious swimming.
A RETRO SUIT
A suit inspired by those of the 20s, 30s, or 40s looks new but provides extra camouflage for hips and thighs. Look for lower leg lines with a pinup or girlshort effect.
Prints continue to add a fresh look to mainly neutral solid wardrobes and swimsuits are no exception. Bold florals and 60s graphics will make you a standout in any crowd, and do their magic by helping blur jiggles and untoned body spots.
