Michael Jackson fans in mourning, and Governor Sanford’s wife breaks her silence

Michael Jackson memorial

1. The whole world is mourning Michael Jackson. London fans swarmed the Lyric Theatre where a live show based on The King of Pop’s infamous album Thriller is being performed. Roses and teddy bears line the porch of Michael’s childhood home in Gary, Indiana. Facebook users are setting up “everything-Jackson” parties across the U.S., and hundreds of fans in Los Angeles haven’t budged from the singer’s celebrity star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where candles and notes have been lovingly placed. Morning programs from Sydney to Seoul were interrupted once they received the news early Friday morning; Nelson Mandella issued a statement; And Sophia Loren called the Associated Press from Italy:

“It’s horrible news, so unexpected. The world has lost an icon and music has lost treasures. He wrote songs that generations of yesterday, today and tomorrow will all keep on singing. What he wrote was amazing.”

2. It was the straw that almost broke the camel’s back — the straw being Michael Jackson and the camel being the World Wide Web. The news of The King of Pop’s passing caused multiple media outlets and search engines to go haywire, even forcing some, such as Twitter, to shut down entirely (once the A-Listers were through with it) for a stretch of time. TMZ created the first ripple after they dropped the bombshell that was Jackson’s death, then it was Perez Hilton, CNN, the LA Times and even AIM’s turn to get tied up on and off for hours. AOL consumer advisor Regina Lewis summed it up perfectly by declaring that Jackson’s demise “could go down as the biggest mobile event in history.” (CNN.com)

3. While most of us are either still in shock or have begun the grieving process, legal analysts are hard at work trying to determine how Michael Jackson’s children will cope and where exactly they will go. Typically, when a parent dies the kids are handed off to the surviving parent, but because 12-year-old Prince Michael I, 11-year-old Paris and 7-year-old Prince Michael II are not in contact with their mothers, things are a bit more challenging. Michael’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe, who gave up her parental rights years ago, is the most obvious option. Unfortunately she is not the mother of Prince Michael II aka “Blanket”, conceived through an anonymous surrogate, and splitting the children up sounds like an awfully cruel thing to do. The question that authorities are going to need to ask themselves is, what would Michael want? (CNN.com)

4. Michael Jackson, Demerol addict? Friends are coming out of the woodwork with new information that points towards a possible drug dependency. Allegedly the idol was abusing prescription medications, which may or may not have included Zoloft, Xanon and morphine. The main drug in question at this time is Demerol, a fatal concoction if used in excess that Michael has supposedly been ingesting since 1984. Results from today’s autopsy might not be available until next week or longer, so in the meantime we will have to keep speculating. (Politicol News)

Jenny Sanford5. Don’t know, don’t care! Governor Sanford‘s wronged wife Jenny has no clue what’s to become of her no-good money-hoarding hubby, and she aims to keep it that way. The South Carolina first lady was trying to slip away from the couple’s vacation home unnoticed on Thursday, but alas the paps caught up with her.

“He’s going to have to worry about that,” she assured reporters when pressed about Sanford’s career. “I’m worried about my family and the character of my children.”

Too bad she didn’t say what we’re sure she’s dying to – that little sleaze has made his bed, now he gets to bloody well lie in it! (Newser.com)

I heard that MJ was only taking Demerol to prepare for his upcoming tour. And as for his kids, I hope they stay together and can finally have a stable home environment
