I love to seek out Michaels and Martha Stewart for quick and easy decorative edibles. Here are a few of my favorites, perfect for making with your kids or girlfriends.
Boo! It’s A Mini Ghost!
Ghosts may be scary, but not this sweet little morsel. Eat your fears away with this easy-to-make, icing-laced brownie recipe from Michaels.
• Halloween Mini Cake Pan
• Favorite Chocolate Cake Recipe
• Cooling Grid
• Decorating Tip
• Decorating Bags
• Cookie Icing- White
• Icing Color- Black
1. Bake mini cakes, then cool.
2. Cover cake top and let drip with white cookie icing
3. Using decorating tip and black icing, pipe dot eyes and mouth
Orange Jack-o’-Lanterns with Ice-Cream
I’m taking Orange Sorbet literally, with this Valencia orange bowl/ lid and vanilla bean ice cream courtesy of Martha Stewart. Isn’t this a cute way to celebrate Halloween? Simply cut off the top quarter of an orange and scoop out flesh with a spoon. With a utility knife, carve eyes, noses, and silly grins, and serve with any of your favorite ice-cream or sorbets.
Ghost in the Graveyard
Boo! It’s mash potatoed ghosts! And “pumpkin” mashed yams. Who says that you can’t costume-ize your food too?
Dress up your classic meatloaf dish with these two special side dishes, also from Martha Stewart. It’s as easy as using a pastry bag to pipe mashed potatoes and yams into their respective ghosts and pumpkins; use black sesame seeds for the ghost’s eyes and small cuts of cilantro for the pumpkin leaves.
