This season, makeup companies are upping their color game in every makeup category. How can you rock this look without resembling a clown? Pair loud makeup shades with pastel and sorbet colors from your wardrobe for a contrasting, feminine effect like the way AnnaLynne McCord did, or rock some leather and denim for glam, bad gal style.

Read on to learn how to  rock these starburst shades.

Lips
If you choose a bright red, coral or hot pink lip shade, and make it the focal point of your makeup, choose complementary makeup that won’t upstage the bright lip. You might want to go bold read with the bright red lipstick – MAC Viva Glam Cyndi ($14, maccosmetics.com)

Pair bright lipstick shades with pale pink blush. Then pick cooler, more pastel shades of eye shadows like lilacs and mauves. They’re great shades that won’t overpower the lip. Finish it off with plenty of eye liner and mascara.

Blush
The hot item of the season is Makeup Forever’s HD Microfinish Blush ($25, hsn.com). It’s a cream blush with 14 shades to pick from- each blush creates a subtle, natural flush of color on your cheeks without making them seem too dolled up.

Choose a lipstick shade that is not too over powering so the focus is on your cheek. A high shine lip gloss instead of a lipstick will work nicely.

Pink lipstick never looks good on anybody — until now. She looks so pretty in it!

And if anybody’s looking for a good, FLATTERING red lipstick, I strongly recommend Clinique’s Black Honey shade. It looks black in the tube but comes out as this gorgeous buildable-coverage berry stain/gloss hybrid. I’ve been wearing it off and on (when I can find it — they discontinued it for a while, then they had it in every type of lipstick formulation imaginable, and now it’s back to just the one line, which I think is called Almost Lipstick?) for thirteen years. I’ve seen it on lots of different people with lots of different hair/skin/eye colors and it looks gorgeous on all of them! I cannot pull off red lipstick normally, but this color makes it really easy. So I have to mention it whenever an article talks about red lips!

I wore Lancome’s “Le Red” lipstick for years! They don’t make it anymore and I can’t find a substitute. I am a natural blonde and I used to get jillions of complements on my red lips and nails (especially from men!).
