CNN was asking for trouble when the network invited self-proclaimed D-list comedienne Kathy Griffin to their live New Year’s Eve bash with Anderson Cooper, and it seems they got more than they could handle.

According to PopEater, Kathy Griffin is now banned from CNN’s live New Year’s Eve broadcast. Among jokes about sex and drugs, Kathy used a choice F-word to joke about Balloon Boy Falcon Heene’s name.

“She was a total embarrassment to the network that calls themselves ‘The Most Trusted Name in News,’” a CNN source told PopEater. “Even Anderson (Cooper, her co-host) thinks it’s time to say goodbye to Kathy.”

In addition, the show’s ratings fell far behind more established vehicles like Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

CNN’s reps claim that they haven’t made final decisions about next year’s live broadcast, but it seems Kathy Griffin has some new material for her standup routine.

i really used to like her. now she just tries to hard to be ‘edgy’. hate that. now she is just an old, collagen-inflated skin tarp. just a twit.

  2. SherriA says:

Kathy never has been funny, and this near obsession she exhibits with being ‘edgy’ is repulsive. I thought it was a huge risk that CNN took in having her do anything on the network, let alone anchor a program. This massive reconstruction project on her body has obviously affected her ability to be entertaining. I’m sure she will use this as fodder for her ‘humor’. Sadly, not many find her funny.

  3. Lennie Ross says:

I think it’s rather unlady like to be raunchy like Kathy is becoming and like Chelsey Handler has always been. We can get our point across with poise and grace, which I think provides a much better representation for women. We don’t have to bel ike men to be heard.

I can’t believe people are jumping on her for “raunchy” language, when Glen Beck, Sean Hanity, and Rush Limbaugh, spew HATE and racism, sexism on the shows daily! Daily! Thank God at least one of them has been fired. Tea party people will be the end of our nation I fear.
