Betty on the News: Michelle Obama Turning Focus to Healthcare
White House to make Michelle Obama the new face of healthcare reform
Following her husband’s address to Congress last week, Michelle Obama has decided to focus her energies on health insurance reform, according to her aides.
The first lady plans to put a friendly spin on the complicated issue, but instead of getting down to the nitty-gritty as Hillary Clinton did, she will concentrate on matters such as exercise, the need to eat healthy and why it’s important to look into preventative care.
“She will do things that fit in with what she cares about, like health care reform and the implications it has for family and kids,” Camille Johnston, Obama’s director of communications, revealed. “She will spend her time focusing on where policy and people intersect.”
The White House reports that Michelle is to attend an event on Friday with women and families to discuss the healthcare system, and that she will deliver a speech that will “amplify the president’s message on the need for health insurance reform.” (POLITICO.com)
