A Super Reliable, Fast and Easy Solution for When You Literally Don’t Have Time to Get the Doctor + a $100 Giveaway

Walgreens Health Care clinics are great alternatives when you can't get to your regular doctor.

I’m so busy right now I feel like I don’t even have time to write this post! But the really crazy / alarming thing is, I’m drafting this at the tail end of a comparatively lazy, peaceful summer. I know I’m going to be even busier in the blink of an eye, once autumn is in full swing! My life as a working mom gets a jump-start into crazy town in the beginning of September, when Fashion Week coincides with Back to School, and from there life just seems to go faster and faster, barreling through into the holidays and right into the new year. AHHHHH! The one thing that we definitely NEVER have time for? GETTING SICK!

Alas, that’s pretty much the one thing that we have to make time for, whether we want to or not, right? However, though it’s inevitable that someone in my family will need to see a doctor a few times in the upcoming months, it’s not always possible to get to our regular healthcare professionals. I love my daughter’s pediatrician, and I have an excellent GP myself, but sometimes it’s just not possible to get in to see either of them when we need to, whether it’s because of their limited office hours or our jam-packed schedules. It’s important to have a really great, trustworthy alternative for when you need healthcare, but can’t get to your doctor’s office and you don’t need to visit the emergency room, right?

That’s why I was really happy to hear that all of Walgreens’ super accessible and handy Healthcare Clinics (available at select Walgreens locations) are staffed with licensed and board certified Nurse Practitioners (some of them are also staffed with physician assistants). I think of these Walgreens Healthcare Clinics as sort of “outposts” of our regular doctors’ offices, where we can get high quality, trusted, reliable care and medical advice when we really need it, not only when we’re able to schedule a Dr’s appointment.

Open 7 days a week with weekend and evening hours, Walgreens Healthcare Clinics take most forms of insurance, which is awesome. You can make an appointment, but YOU DON’T HAVE TO! Also, they’re great if you need to pop in for a quick, routine visit (say, if you or someone in your fam has a chronic condition that needs monitoring, like hypertension, diabetes, asthma or high cholesterol). They can write prescriptions, give back to school and sports physicals, and give vaccines right in the clinic. ALSO — so cool: You can go online and check the wait times of the clinic nearest you!

  1. I would use the walgreens clinic when going to my clinic to see my doctor is too far from home and my illness can be prescibed with walgreens clinic. Thank you for the chance to win!

  2. I would go to a Walgreen's clinic this year for a flu shot for my daughter and myself. We cannot afford to see a Dr. right now and I don't want us to get sick.

  3. I think I'd mainly use if for the flu shot or if I needed to see the doctor but had trouble getting an appt. without taking off from work.

  4. I've been there once. They are not equipped to handle most problems. When I last visited they turned me away and just said exactly "you have a summer cold, there's nothing I can do for you so you can always go to urgent care if you need to but I can't do anything for you, xrays etc.Really letdown that doctors on staff aren't More knowledgeable in my area!I've been sick for 2 weeks now. What exactly is a summer cold,I guess it's their way of saying that haven't any clue.If it was October I would have had a fall cold I guess. In December it would be a "winter cold"Perhaps!?!?I would love to win a gift card it would help with all the over the counter medicines I had to buy.I Truly love the idea of having clinics available I just wish staff was more equipped to handle different health problems.

  5. For anything too minor for urgent care,I can always use convenient healthcare. The Dr. office for my kids always have a long wait and we always have to schedule an appointment for a few weeks out. That doesn’t work out for colds and flu at all.

  6. Walgreen Clinics would be great for any possible sports injuries that are not serious enough to go to the ER that my children might ever receive during an evening or weekend game.

  7. I could see myself using the Walgreen's clinic when I can't get a doctor's appointment soon enough for minor illnesses. Sometimes it takes forever to get an appointment at the doctor's office.
