When we arrived, a kind gentleman who worked for Hotel Eiger where we were staying greeted us to collect our luggage. From there we were welcomed by the owners of the hotel, Adrian and Susanna Stähli.
Since 1892, the hotel has been family-run, with the Stählis being the fourth generation to run and manage it. Their sweet benevolence was clear from the moment we arrived. A warm and familial feeling was felt throughout this charming four-star hotel the entire time of our visit.
For starters, this girl was thirsty. Lo and behold, we were invited to a weekly champagne hour to soak in the view and blow the alpenhorn. (Dayne “blew” us out of the water on that one!) We conversed with many people. We met a lovely couple celebrating their wedding anniversary while staying in the James Bond room. The word “groovy” comes to mind!
Our room was lovely and enchanting. The first thing I did was open the door to the balcony where the mountain was summoning me. The smell of fresh air and flowers touched my skin and left me with a feeling of pure contentment. Later, we dined in the hotel restaurant, Eiger Hall, which was surrounded by spectacular views all around and amazing from start to finish.
We were immersed in dazzling imagery, from the car-free Mürren streets to the chalets with the aroma of cozy fireplaces wafting in the air. Later we went to the pool, which had wall-to-wall windows with mountains in every corner. The sauna was relaxing and just what we needed! At the end of day one, we all concluded that Mürren is the place to be!
“AS A FAMILY HOTEL, WE TAKE GREAT JOY IN MAKING SURE OUR CUSTOMERS ARE HAPPY.” ADRIAN AND SUSANNA STÄHLI.
