All the Details: Camila Alves’ Sparkling Wedding Jewels and Gorgeous Gown
Find out exactly what Camila Alves was wearing when she tied the knot with Matthew McConaughey last weekend!
As you undoubtedly already know, the Summer of Celebrity Weddings continues apace, with last weekend’s biggie being Matthew McConaughey’s and Camil Alves’. But unlike, say, Mark Zuckerberg’s and Priscilla Chan’s wedding, this one was no secret, home-grown affair; it was a lavish spectacle full of joyous celebration. Naturally, though, the thing everyone is most interested in is what Camila was wearing—and lucky for us, People has all the details on the bride’s beautiful jewels and gown! Let’s take a look, shall we?
First, the jewelry: In addition to her gorgeous vintage-style engagement ring with its unusual rose-cut diamond, Camila sported two pieces by Neil Lane: A headpiece and earrings. According to Neil, both pieces featured pear-shaped center diamonds to give her “a very romantic, soft look. She wanted to wear her hair back with the glamorous earrings,” the jeweler added—earrings which, by the way, were a whopping 10 carats. Wowzers.
The headpiece, meanwhile, was made of platinum and accented with pearls and diamonds—and interestingly, it was originally designed as a bracelet. Neil described it as having a “beautiful Edwardian, art deco feel”—that is, it’s “vintage without being too old-fashioned.”
And how about that dress, eh, Bettys? Unlike many celebrity brides, Camila didn’t immediately head for any of the big names in wedding gowns like Vera Wang or Monique Lhuillier; instead, she asked Brazilian dress designer Ducarmo Castela Branco to create her dress. Ducarmo is a family friend of Camila’s; in fact, the blushing bride has known her since she was a girl. “Ducarmo has been making wedding dresses for her entire life,” Camila told People. “I guess you can say she has been planning this design for over 20 years.”
Ducarmo pulled together a group of eight local women to help her create the gown, a gorgeous confection of beads and lace—and Camila just knew that they would do it right. “I went to Brazil for a day and a half to work on the dress,” she said. “I left and I just had to trust them. They finished the dress 22 days later.” And what a dress it was!
Matthew and Camila’s exclusive wedding album is available in this week’s issue of People, on newsstands today; rumor has it that the album will include a super up close and personal look at Camila’s gown, so be sure to check it out!
