American Girl Releases a Bald Doll in Honor of Young Cancer Patients
These new American Girl dolls are bald and beautiful, just like the brave little girls they’re inspired by!
For those of you who’ve grown up with a trusty American Girl doll by your side, you know that these plastic gals are pretty special. And now, a new beloved American Girl will serve as a BFF to brave young cancer patients.
Girls battling cancer, alopecia, or other conditions resulting in hair loss can now create dolls that look just like they do as part of the customizable My American Girl collection. You can order a doll for the special little lady in your life by calling the toll-free contact center at 1-800-628-5145.
Best of all, since the American Girl company makes a $100,000+ donation of dolls to the Children’s Hospital Association each year, these brand new friends will be included in the loot. Just think of those girls’ faces as they finally receive a smiling doll with the message that bald is beautiful!
This announcement comes on the heels of a similar decision by Mattel to create a hairless Barbie doll for children. And back in February, MGA Entertainment broadcasted its plans to release six Bratz True Hope hairless dolls.
How can you not shed a tear of joy over this decision? No, dolls don’t always reflect the true lives (or body types!) of girls—but this is surely a step in the right direction.
