An ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ Movie? Bloody Marvelous!
Word on the street is that Jennifer Saunders has plans to bring ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ to the bring screen. Fantastic!
Break out the champagne, because Patsy and Eddy are back! According to Deadline, British comedian Jennifer Saunders has big plans to bring back the brilliant BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous—as a movie!
At the moment, Jennifer is tied up working on Viva Forever, a.k.a. the Spice Girls Musical. But once she’s done with that, she hopes to get right to work on Ab Fab: The Movie. And she’s not the only one excited about the idea; Christine Langan, Creative Director of BBC Films, told Deadline, “I think [Jennifer’s] a genius. I can’t imagine anything more exciting than working with her.” Neither can we!
In the event that you somehow have yet to discover the glory that is Ab Fab, the show ran from 1992 to 1995 and centered around PR not-quite-mastermind Edina (known as Eddy and played by Jennifer Saunders herself), sex-crazed magazine editor Patsy (Joanna Lumley), and their madcap, frequently drunken misadventures. The movie will apparently begin with Patsy and Eddy waking up (hungover, naturally) “in the empty drifting yacht of an oligarch in the middle of the ocean.” And no, their cell phones don’t work. From there, it can only get more hilarious.
Wonderful news indeed! In honor of the occasion, I offer you this little tidbit. Is it… is it a bee? Well…
