Verrier: Sexy, Exotic Promise of Spring
Nigel Barker and Lindsay Price light up the front row

The models wearing the Verrier collection for Spring 2009 reminded me of a long trail of colorful and exotic birds fluttering down the runway -- quail, peacock, flamingo, blue heron, dove, wren, and meadowlark -- one after the other. The girls were resplendent in puffed-sleeved ruffled ensembles that were crusted in enough sparkling jewels to delight a thieving magpie. They kicked their legs out far in
front of them and teetered on shiny high heels, like residents of an aviary picking their way down a graveled path.
Don't get me wrong; the birds were very sexy indeed. The shift dresses and shorts were rakishly short with a very risqué amount of leg showing, and a few of the tops were tantalizingly see-through (there is really nothing more lovely than the shadow of a nipple
on a nubile young breast).
And from the life follows art files: Lindsay Price (who plays a fashion designer on Lipstick Jungle) and Nigel Barker (a former model who's now a judge and photographer on America's Next Top Model) feathered the nest from the front row of the show. I'm not sure if it was the sparkle from the Verrier jewels, or their caviar skin treatments that infuse the skin with the glow of fame, but they both looked positively luminous. Hopefully we'll see some Verrier on Ms. Price in this season of the Jungle. The style suits her, for she is one sexy bird!
Alas, we missed out on the front row treat -- a fancy, beaded clutch stuffed with Dove chocolate, according to Fashion Week Daily (so that's what those glamazons were clutching!). Next time...
