Celebrity Style: Fall Hair Color Trends

Find your perfect hue for this season

-Paige Herman-Axel

When I lived up north, changing over my wardrobe from summer to fall one was of my favorite things to do. Those chunky wools, sumptuous scarves and knee-high boots were such a welcome change after spending the summer months in breezy dresses and fabulous flat sandals. Being the beauty junkie that I am, I also looked at the change of seasons as an opportunity to try something new with my hair. In addition to freshening up my style, the transition into fall is a great time to update color as well. We turned to celebrity colorist Rita Hazan of the Rita Hazan Salon in New York City - who tends to the tresses of Jessica Simpson, Michelle Williams and Jaime Pressley - for this season's trends.

"Overall, we'll be seeing more multidimensional color," says Hazan. "Remember, in the fall when skin is a little pale, you need richer, warmer color in the hair to balance out the skin. These warm tones are so perfect for the season - they look so rich and sexy."

If you have brown hair ... Hazan says, "This season is about tone on tone browns in richer, darker shades. The look is more solid, but with a few brown on brown highlights."

Doesn't Anne Hathaway look gorgeous with this rich, luxurious color?

If you have blonde hair ... According to Hazan, "The best bet is more golden colors. The goal is to go softer and sophisticated, no chunks or stripes and not high contrast."

Gweneth Paltrow, with her recently chopped locks, is definitely the golden girl of the moment, but we're also loving Heidi Klum's angelic locks.

If you have red hair ... "Think more vibrant copper, bronze or deep rich reds like auburn," says Hazan.

Is there even another redhead in Hollywood? Gorgeous Amy Adams is pretty stiff competition!
