10 Best Movie Love Scenes

The most romantic movie moments we can’t forget.

The Notebook

February isn’t exactly the sexiest month on the calendar. It’s 10 degrees below zero, never mind the wind chill. Your lips are chapped, your hands are raw, your nose is running like a faucet. And yet, we’ve deemed the 14th the most romantic day of the year.

Perhaps that notion is romantic in itself – in the midst of deepest winter, love still blooms. In honor of wintery romance, here are Betty’s 10 favorite movie love scenes, in no particular order. (Note we said love scenes, not sex scenes… although we’re not going to object to a little overlap now and then!) No matter what our current relationship status is, these are the scenes that remind us that nothing can stand in the way of true love. Enjoy!

An Affair to Remember

The scene: Cary Grant finally realizes Deborah Kerr is crippled – that’s why she failed to meet him at the top of the Empire State Building. He looks at her. She looks at him. And suddenly he just knows. They embrace and – well, we’ll let Rita Wilson in Sleepless in Seattle explain.

Dirty Dancing

The scene: Jennifer Grey’s on the brink of womanhood. She’s loved and lost – mamboed and mastered The Lift. Now six little words are about to change her life: Nobody. Puts. Baby. In. A. Corner.

An Affair to Remember kills me very time. But The Sound of Music? That movie is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

The weekend that Patrick Swayze died, one of the Cable TV stations showed “Ghost” and I squalled through the whole show. At the end, when he is going to Heaven and turns around, I was WAILING, and then the station flashed his birthdate and date of his death and said, “So long, our friend!” I know this is how Lisa Niemi must feel, and THAT SCENE is my favorite romantic scene ever (although I do love the wet clay one, also.)
I agree with all of the ones you cited, also!!
