Initially there was talk of replacing Taylor as Twilight’s Jacob Black with another more muscular actor for the hit movie’s sequel, but the 17-year-old martial arts enthusiast was able to put on 20 lbs of muscle in nine months to keep the role. In fact, he so impressed the New Moon folks that a scene between a shirtless Jacob and Bella was added to the movie. “The quote I love the most is Jacob’s: ‘Does my half being naked bother you?’” Taylor says of the sexy scene. “That quote just cracks me up.”
9. Jake Gyllenhaal
The Donnie Darko star beefed up for his role in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Jake, 29, trained for two-and-a-half hours a day to play the swashbuckling, sword-wielding lead in the video game adaptation, which comes out in May. Reese Witherspoon’s main squeeze did 90 minutes of cardio with a 20 lb. weight strapped to his body in the mornings and later in the day followed it up with an hour of resistance training doing pull-ups, press-ups and ab exercises. We’d say it was a job well done.
