10 Kids’ Songs That Won’t Drive You Crazy
Kids’ music that won’t make you want to slam your head through the windshield
-Julie Ryan Evans
Music in the car has always done wonders to keep my son happy and relatively quiet, but it has to be “his” music, which often means that I trade the price of his silence for my sanity. Sure it’s cute at first, but one can only take so many hours of Barney’s nasally noise and the Wiggles insipid ramblings about a hot potato before one considers slamming one’s head right through the windshield … or something like that.
The good news – for both you and your car – is that children’s music has come a long way, and there’s some pretty good stuff out there that you’ll actually want to listen to along with your kids.
Here are 10 of my favorites:
1. They Might Be Giants is one of my favorite groups doing non-annoying kids’ tunes these days. There are so many to choose from, but one of the songs I find myself looking for even when the children aren’t in the car is off of their new album “Here Comes Science.” While the periodic table is a little advanced for the littlest ones, they still like the tune – and mom gets a refresher course with songs like “Meet the Elements.”
