If you Bettys have been hopelessly scratching to get the hottest Mercedes-Benz New York fashion Week beauty looks all on your own, we’ve got a step-by-step guide on how to get the GORGE braids hot off of Veronica Beard’s runway. Inspired by cowboy and Western wear, the designing sisters-in-law Veronica Miere Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard worked closely and carefully with Original Mineral’s Creative Director, Janelle Chaplin, to successfully interpret cowgirl style. To create long and lush braids a la Veronica Beard, check out Janelle’s tips below for the complete beauty scoop:

1. To build the right foundation for the braid, apply O&M’s Rootalicious ($24.95, originalmineral.com) onto dry hair. Then, brush the hair with a flat, broad head brush to give it floaty texture.

2. Start your braid by gathering the hair to one side. Next, create a volumized side fishtail braid that has the same dimensions from top to bottom.

3. To give the style some added texture, tease the braid with O&M’s K-Gravel texture clay ($22.95, originalmineral.com) and Surf Bomb sea salt texture spray ($21.95, originalmineral.com). This will develop the look’s rough texture and give the illusion of a non-styled, gritty ‘do.

4. To finish the braid, Janelle recommends using electric cable ties instead of rubber bands or elastic hair ties, as they lock strands in place by giving it a tighter grip while causing less damage.

Add a snappy fedora if you’re feeling mysterious. Now go rock that runway!
