8. Mark Wahlberg and Ted Reunite. Also, a Tie!
Because there’s nothing like an anthropomorphic teddy bear to bring that certain je ne sais quois to a chi chi award ceremony. And how about that tie for the Best Sound Editing? Congrats to both Zero Dark Thirty and Skyfall! Fun fact: Ties are extremely rare at the Oscars; as far as my (admittedly extremely speedy) research can tell, it’s only happened four times: Barbara Streisand and Katharine Hepburn tied for Best Actress in 1968; Wallace Beery and Frederic March tied for Best Actor way back in 1932; A Chance to Live and So Much for So Little tied for Best Documentary, Short Subject in 1949; and Artie Shaw: Time Is All You’ve Got and Down and Out in America tied for Best Documentary Feature in 1986. (Anyone else have better info than I do?)
